Natalie was born in Deniliquin, New South Wales in 1974. Her connection to the Brain family is through her mother Allison Sue Jansen (nee Brain), the eldest child of George Stuart and Beatrice Christie (nee Anderson) Brain. Allison married John Jansen of Hay, New South Wales in Deniliquin in 19. In 1977 the family moved to Canberra after John was accepted into the Australian Federal Police. Natalie resides in Townsville, Queensland with her husband Matt and two children, Meg and Harriet.
Darryl was born in Leeton, New South Wales in 1949. His connection to the Brain family is through his mother, Heather Eleanor Beryl Massie (nee Brain), the second eldest child of David Masters and Annie (nee Balding) Brain. Heather married Frank Massie of Yanco, New South Wales in Sydney in 1946 and, shortly after the birth of their fourth child, the couple moved to King Island, Tasmania to take up a soldier settlement farm. Darryl left high school in 1965 to complete twelve years in the military after which he completed several years of academic study and practised law for 30 years before retiring in 2015. He is the proud grandfather of (so far) four grandchildren and lives with his wife Amanda and their 16-year-old Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier “Baxter” in Tasmania.
